I'm a project to you. Something to cross off your list. A job to pad your wallet. Someone to rush in and rush out, and barely speak to. I'm not the first project you've rushed through. You did the same to a friend. But I'll give you credit where credit is due: your surgical skills are on point. The new girls (or as I now call them "the gone girls" because they're short-timers) look fantastic. Excellent job! Poor job on treating me like like a real person: someone's mother, wife, daughter, and friend. I should represent more than a name and a service. Look into my eyes once in a while.
So instead of examining my infection this week, you've chosen to put me off and prescribe more Keflex. You've offered to see me next week, but I really don't want to do that any way. (That's why you're Dr. Dread. I dread seeing you again.) In the meantime, I am feverishly working to get an appointment with my new surgeon who takes me and this infection seriously.
If I can't get an appointment with her, I won't be afraid when I see you next week. But I will not be disrespectful either. I will advocate for myself and give you feedback. And I will do so in a way that honors God. Believe me, everything in me wants to tell you off, point my finger in your face (hey, I didn't say which finger), and demand a discount. Because, well, you sorta suck. You do. Thankfully, there is more Jesus in me than there is spitefulness. Consider yourself blessed.
What fires you up? Who is the person you'd love to tell off? Picture their face. (OK, don't throw your phone or punch your laptop.) Just picture that person's face. Then picture Jesus. This messes with me sometimes: Jesus loves that person as much as He loves you. And He has called us to forgiveness and love. I truly believe this as angry as I am. In fact, I'm just crazy enough to believe Jesus loves Jihadi John as much as He loves Pope Francis. He died for all of us. No one is exempt from His saving grace.
Friends, let's act in a manner that glorifies God in ALL circumstances. We can't just be Christian on Sunday and raise hell the rest of the week. I'm not saying it's easy. I'm saying we're called to do so. Let's work harder.
Prayer Requests Today:
- Please pray for complete healing from my infection and for my visit with Dr. Dread.
- Please pray that I have the strength to practice what I just preached. (Wink)
- Please also pray that my new doctor, Dr. TLC, can see me before Dr. Dread so I can avoid that stressful situation altogether. Thank you.
Let's be like Jesus (even when it's crazy hard),
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23
